- Account information: student first name, grade level, and parent/guardian email address
- Learning progress data: answers to practice problems, scores, streaks, lesson completion, and time spent on activities
- Device and usage data: browser type, device type, and general usage patterns to improve platform performance
We do not collect Social Security numbers, precise geolocation, photographs, or any other sensitive personal information. We do not sell any data to third parties.
2. Children's Privacy (COPPA Compliance)
1School.ai is designed for children in grades K through 8. We take our obligations under the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) seriously.
- Parental consent: We require verifiable parental consent before collecting any personal information from children under 13 years of age.
- No behavioral advertising: We do not serve behavioral or targeted advertising to children. Period.
- Minimal data collection: We only collect information that is reasonably necessary to provide our educational services.
- No social features: Children cannot publicly share personal information, post content, or communicate with other users on the platform.
- Parental control: Parents and guardians can review, modify, or delete their child's information at any time (see Section 7).
3. How We Use Information
We use the information we collect solely to support your child's learning experience:
- Personalize learning: Adapt lesson difficulty and content to each student's grade level and progress, aligned with Common Core State Standards (CCSS).
- Track progress: Provide parents and teachers with dashboards showing learning milestones, streaks, and areas for improvement.
- AI tutoring: Power our AI tutor to give age-appropriate hints, explanations, and encouragement.
- Improve the platform: Analyze aggregate, de-identified usage data to make 1School.ai better for all learners.
- Communicate with parents: Send progress reports and important account updates to parent/guardian email addresses.
4. Data Sharing
We believe your family's data belongs to your family. Our commitments:
- We do not sell personal information to anyone.
- We do not share personal information with third parties for marketing or advertising purposes.

- If a teacher uses 1School.ai in a classroom setting, the teacher may view the learning progress of their students.

We implement industry-standard technical and organizational measures to protect information from unauthorized access, alteration, disclosure, or destruction. These include:
- Encryption of data in transit (HTTPS/TLS)
- Secure data storage with access controls
- Regular review of our data collection and security practices
- Limiting access to personal information to employees and contractors who need it to operate the platform
While no system is 100% secure, we are committed to protecting your child's information and will notify affected users promptly in the unlikely event of a data breach.
6. Cookies & Analytics
1School.ai uses a limited number of cookies and similar technologies:
- Essential cookies: Required for the platform to function (e.g., keeping a student logged in during a session).
- Analytics (Google Analytics): We use Google Analytics to understand how visitors use our site in aggregate. This helps us improve navigation, content, and performance. Google Analytics collects anonymized data such as page views and session duration. We have configured Google Analytics to not collect personally identifiable information.
We do not use advertising cookies or tracking pixels for the purpose of serving ads to children.
7. Parent/Guardian Rights
As a parent or guardian, you have the right to:
- Review the personal information we have collected about your child
- Request deletion of your child's personal information and account
- Refuse further collection of your child's information (which may require closing the account)
- Access the parent dashboard to view and manage your child's learning data at any time
